Stampede Steve hosts Second Annual "Pain in The Neck 50K"
Welcome! we are happy to announce that we are going to be hosting a second fat ass 50K in the Cambridge Maryland Neck District on December 01 2012. The first race in February 2011 was a great time and a great success. Purpose: This is a free fat ass event celebrating the success of overcoming adversity of all kinds. Voluntary donations will be accepted by our large pink pig and will be forwarded to the Women to Women Cancer Support Group. This is a local county non-profit organization reaching out to cancer victims of all types. Friends will gather to compete with the soft clay trails characterizing the neck district of Cambridge Maryland. Food and beverages will be available before, during and after the event.
Structure: The race will begin on December 1st 2012 at 7 AM. This is a self contained all trails short loop course. Each loop is 2 miles. Laps will be counted at the start and finish point at the house and barns. There will be a 9-hour time limit for the race but food and fun will continue beyond the 9-hour limit. This is an excellent first time trail event for less experienced runners and a very fun fast course for experienced runners trying to establish a personal best.
Registration: Application for this event should include a brief demographic presentation and acknowledgement and signature of the waiver that follows.

2-27-11 The First Annual Pain in the Neck Fat Ass was a great success! Thanks to all our participants for making it so much fun and for keeping the course and our farm the way you found it! With your help we raised over $500 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation....racing our way to a cure for breast cancer thanks to you all! Tomorrow, 2-28-11, is Robin's revisional reconstruction surgery at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore...as soon as she is home and recuperating she will get the results and pictures posted here and on Facebook! Thanks again to everyone who came and participated. Ultrarunners Rock! Can tell you this much...Glen Redpath finished the 50k in under four hours; Jeff McCaslin completed 50 miles (wow) in just over nine hours. Top Female honors go to Ashley Hutcherson who ran 34 miles. The ladies of Team Easton collectively ran 52 miles and Team Robin was a close second running 50+ too! Steve wouldn't let me count the eight laps by the German Sheperds (hahahaha) Thanks for such a fabulous day everyone! More to come!
5-13-2012 Happy Mothers Day. The course is clean dry and fast. It continues to have some roots and ruts but has wonderful soft clay. I actually have a 3 mile loop
available. It can be designed so that runners can pass facing each other while going opposite directions along short common portions of the course. This was not done in the past in an attempt to limit confusion. I will consult with some veteran racers on whether or not this change would add or decrease enjoyment in the event. Either way, we all plan on having another great time celebrating our life and the lives of others. Please feel free to view some of the pictures below from last years event. Any donated proceeds from this years event will be forwarded to Women to Women Cancer Support Group.
